Startup Genome – Map Bangkok’s Startup Community
Startup Genome is an initiative that maps Startup communities all around the world. It’s a non for profit organization supported by the Kaufman Foundation. Startup Genome had a big redesign recently and is now a pretty neat platform with curators in 46 different countries all around the world.
Why would you actually want to map the local community? There are several reasons, but the most important ones are
- To be able to have an overview over the local startup community, to be able to see what is out here and what services are missing and to be able to find and be found by potential partners
- For local and international people interested to join and plug into the community to find the places to go and the people to speak to
- For investors to get a quick look
- Economic Research, which allows to compare communities around the world, get insights on where communities are, what is missing and how we might want to develop them.
There are currently three curators in Bangkok, Efraim Pettersson, Amarit Charoenphan and myself. With a growing Startup Community it becomes more and more difficult to keep track of what is going on for each of us.
BangkokStartup has two sections, People and Startups that correspond directly with the goals Startup Genome has. When you visit both sides you will also see that they are pretty empty. Well, we can implement Startup Genome here and we will likely do that, but we actually need to fill the local map first.
The whole process takes 2 minutes (maximum 5). Set up an account (LinkedIn connect or Twitter connect) and subsequently add your Startup. Before it goes live one of the curators will have to verify the entry. The easiest way to do this is by just visiting http://www.startupgenome.com
Thanks for your help!
